Compared to the ASI120MM, the ZWO ASI290MM utilises a back-illuminated IMX290 Sensor and features a larger resolution at 1936*1096, small pixel size of 2.9um and much faster frame rate at 170FPS which makes it significantly superior for planetary imaging. The IMX290 Sensor is back-illuminated to improve image quality at lower illumination.
