After stumbling around in the dark (pardon the pun) for a while on where to start and learn a bit more, I found here. I've been using nothing but the optics that I was born with to go looking, and have decided to take the plunge and get a scope and find like minded individuals. Which I appear to have found!
Well, thought I introduce myself, if anyone is a member of the Canberra Astronomical Society, I guess you'll see me there.
hope you find what you need in the way of support to get to going. Can be frustrating if the weather doesn't play nice but its a very interesting hobby.
Hello and welcome Stephen,
There are quite a few members here from Canberra. I have only been to a couple of the CAS Public viewing nights but plan to join and spend a bit more time up at Stromlo.
They have a few open nights where you can try before you buy, which is a very good way to go.
Once I get another mount for my scopes you're welcome to have a look through them.
They are just little secondhand refractors, but they give a nice view.
I'm hoping the viewings @ CAS will help me choose a scope, everyone there will have a far better idea then me looking at Bintel or Aust Geographic stores.
Thanks for the welcome, Roger & Matt.
