NGC6334 Bear Paw Nebula in SHO

This was taken much earlier in the year, and was the last target imaged with the trusty ol' ASI1600MM-Pro before I upgraded to the ASI2600MM and 3nm Filters.

This is one of those targets that I always keep coming back to, mostly because i've never really been happy with how I'd previously captured or processed it.

So this image represents not only a bit of a send off for old equipment, but a good solid effort in trying to do the both the equipment and DSO justice.

Click here to see it big on Astrobin.

C&C is very welcome on this. I think the processing leaves a bit (lot?) to be desired, but I think its partly a function of the data I was working with. I feel like I've either over-stretched, or not got enough of the OIII channel. Either way, I'm looking forward to tackling this one again next year with my much better setup.

Thanks for looking and Clear Skies!

Thanks Dave! It's always been a difficult target for me, for whatever reason. But I think i'm on the right track and i'm looking forward to giving it another go next year. I wish I had a longer focal length to really get in there.

Thanks Martin! I first heard it called the "Bear Paw" nebula, so that's whats stuck in my head now. Buti think "cat's paw" isprobably the better known name for it. Either way, it's a pretty unique target, and one i'll keep coming back to.
