Well the sun was out, but it was very windy and the seeing was average but at least it gave us more time to evaluate our new mono camera (ASI178MM). Interestingly, and unfortunately, it has introduced the issue of Newton rings. Swapping in and out the ASI178MC and the ASI178MM, everything else exactly the same, goes from no rings to rings. The full disk images were usable but we had to go back to the colour camera for barlow images in Ha. The monochrome camera worked well with white light using a solar continuum filter at 540nm with both the 72ED full disk and 6" SCT mosaic. Unfortunately the full disk white light images have not scaled well for posting here.
