mak 127 camera weight

Gidday i have a skywatcher 127 mak perched on an eq5 pro synscan mount all that i recently purchased as i want to get into astro. My question is i want to hang my d300 nikon off it and it is a tad heavy. If i balance the scope well will this be ok and not to much stress for the gearing? I know webcam and ccd are the go but i would like to give this a bash first. Cheers Tony
