Is it even a theory???
I say no it is not but say this so someone can take me thru the requirements of a theory and how the string idea can claim the high status of theory.

Marc if you dont know the requirements of a theory you really should find out...( I find that very difficult to accept I must say)..then when some fool says about the Big Bang Theory or The Theory of Evolution...but its only a theory you can help them by outlining what it takes to call something a theory.

But if you wiki it you will probably say that String Theory does not fit the bill...I may be wrong but that seems to be its downfall..lots in it sure but I dont think it is a theory..now if someone can show why I am misguided everyone can learn something while enjoying witnessing my humiliation..I should have checked so I must be prepared to pay the price for being unnecessarily casual.

I wouldn't know where to start with string theory. I'm no Sheldon.

Gary can probably explain all that jazz in more depth.

Yep .. Amish take on String Theory .. Look .. no knots. Must be working below the 4rd dimension.

You underestimate yourself Marc you are smarter than Sheldon he is only a constructed character on a TV show..and certainly Garys input would be great also perhaps that of Lariliss who may be able to take us further.

And wiki calls it a theory...

In physics, string theory is a theoretical framework in which the point-like particles of particle physics are replaced by one-dimensional objects called strings. String theory describes how these strings propagate through space and interact with each other. ... Thus string theory is a theory of quantum gravity.
