Here's and idea for any 'newbies' , curious , or those shopping around for a scope , there are two "star parties" happening next weekend: one at Randwick on friday 3rd of April, the other at Willoughby the following saturday.
You can chase down details from their forum threads under "international year of astronomy" and "star parties" respectively.
Bring your scope and give it a thrash. Bit of hands-on help.

I am hoping to be at the willoughby one, with my 8" Dob...I'm very helpful...unfortunately I haven't got a clue what i am doing!!
But anyone interested should come along...there will be other people there who know what to do!!!
