M16 last night

Hi there,
Finally got a clear night last night. Sky glow was really bad due to a Rugby match taking place down the street. (Lions v Manawatu).
I was not to be deterred though so I took advantage of the night & shot M16 & the Eagle Nebula. Considering the sky conditions I was happy with the reset, although it is not one of my best.
C9.25 @ f/6.3. Canon 300D ISO800 10x4min exposures (40mins total)
Autoguided with ToUCam, ST80, K3CCDTools, Star-mate and G-11 mount.
Cheers

that's one of the nicer eagle shots I've seen in a while.. ..love the definition around the "pillars of creation".

Even though the Hubble popularised the structure with the moniker "pillars of creation", to me it has been reminiscent of a heavenly hand reaching out....

Anyway, its a keeper

Thanks for the positive comments guys. I reckon given a dark sky I can do better.
Paul, yes I did use DSLR focus. Got it as close as I could to focussed. I still get blobby starrs, but I think it's as much to do with SCT's as anything else. Also I noticed that the collimation was a tad off, so tuning that might help.
Cheers

Well not me personally, but it was a great game for the Warriors. Told you the boys would be fired up. What a way for the Bronc's to end a 10 game winning streak... Only a minor spped hump for them on their path to the final I suspect.

Cheers

Check out this version of M16 by Jay, a very very good astrophotographer. Greyscale H-A.

It's worth viewing the fullsize version, I assure you!
