Lunar eclipse - almost maximum eclipse

Got lucky with the clouds.
I still have a lot to learn about lunar photography.

Taken with a QHY163C on Celestron C9.25 with the celestron .63 reducer
100 shots stacked at 50%

Shots taken at gain 200, 1 Sec exposure
Stacked in AutoStakkert, played around with wavelets in Registax (which I think I overdid)

Edited just a little in Gimp

Criticism welcome

Cheers
Ahmed

Here's another stack, this one at gain 350 and 200 shots stacked.
Same process as before, stacked in Auto stakkert, wavelets in Registax. But no editing in Gimp this time.

Nice work Ahmed,
I tried stacking 4 frames of the Moon this morning without success.
The Moon had moved a little between frames.

I tried:
Photoshop CS5.1,
Deep Sky Stacker &
Registax.

None of them would align the images.
Would AutoStakkert do a better job?

cheers
Allan

Thanks Allan.

For aligning the frames you need something like PIPP
https://sites.google.com/site/astropipp/downloads
This will align your frames better than AutoStakkert.
After aligning with PIPP you can then stack in AutoStakkert (or whichever stacking software you use) then play around with Photoshop etc.

Hope that helps

Thanks. I felt like I had to go bold with the small size image. I used the same image on social media because it looks good on the phone
