Points at door: "I'm pretty sure that should be vertical..."

I purchased a small shed from Bunnings ...easy assembly I do not think so....honestly I could have bought timber and sheeting and built it better and in half the time...so fiddly ...came with so many screws in a bag I should have realised right then what I was in for...

The market needs a product that just folds into place with no more than four locking bolts.

Keep it up and more food photos..it am in radiation so bored as.

The kit was a challenge but we got there in the end. Yeah, like the perfect tent, needs to be mostly popup

Good luck with the radiation

Mike,
I used Stratco for mine. My child works there and did the order, too.

Designed the whole thing in Sketchup (You can still see it in their collection '3m Wooden dome'.

Everything measured to the mm. Child double checked everything then ran it though the Stratco system.

Obs meant to be 3m X 6m inside width, with 50mm cladding, ie 3.1m x 3.1m outside.

Everything , all the flooring, cross pieces, walls, etc perfectly cut and it went together like Lego.

Until the right-angle pieces to cover the joins.

They were each exactly 100mm short, ie not accounting for the thickness of the cladding.

And of course, they were the last bits to go on.

Because it had been heavily discounted by the boss I didn't have the heart to go on about it. Lots of mastic covered the ends.

Yep, something where you press a button and it all jumps out and assembles would be great!

Hope the rad treatment goes well Alex

Neville,

LSO

I wasn't up there and the weather was not so good anyway.

We do have the perfect unobstructed southern horizon for catching one though, so hopefully, eventually we will be up there on a moonless clear night when the aurora indexes are favourable, should be a sight if it is a good one

Phil,
I can't get to the SketchUp warehouse any more- I refuse to pay for new SketchUp version.

I can see that it is there though. The proper search is "3m wooden astronomical observatory"

https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/mod...ervatory?hl=en

Have fun.

Hey Mike - I wonder have you decided on your Astrolab control set up and what you software you choose to manage your gear - and whether you might share your choices and design thinking?

I am also keen to know are you running this all software framework on bare metal Windows PC - or did you create a VM image to your needs and just load it when you want on whatever PC or laptop you desire to make it easy to swap if anything dies?

Keen to know your choices as I am thinking of getting back into astro imaging on a far more humble scale!

Couldnt really be on a more humble setup than me I just use a lappie with Astrophysics control and Astroart, only new fangled feature over my previous observatory is the dome follows the scope now

My next mod will be controlling the scope and cameras from inside the nearby site shed/warm room, via USB over ethernet, hopefully an Easter job

Old comfortable habits change sloooowly

Good luck Mike....I finally " finished" ..the control etc.( thanks to simple Asiair plus units on all scopes....even got my hands on a nice " fat controller type chair" from office works..but????? It never ends I tells ya...and my back w ent and I never pulled a truck so why me? My back was what others were measured by..strong straight unbreakable but..turned to a nightmare opposite... then the gear problems just grew...
My roof has gone from a thing of wonder that one could be proud of to something that is now keeping me awake at night wondering why me... installing of the gate motor now perhaps exceeding the price of a dome that works...send pity and lots off It.

So please more encouraging stories of progress and well plenty more of photos of food...

Keep up the good work mate and keep your story before us.

Alex
