Is there a difference ?
I am considering purchasing an EQ5 mount. Is there a difference in quality between Skywatcher and Saxon? Be interested in any comments please. Thanks.

Hi Robert,
Synta manufactures these mounts and Skywatcher / Saxon are simply brand names of them.
Physically and mechanically identical, my preference is Skywatcher, but it really is just a preference, due to their sexier colour scheme..
Cheers

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. I was intending to buy the Skywatcher (a) I can get it cheaper and (b) I agree, it looks better. Just thought I'd check if there was anything I should know about before hand.
Thanks again,
Robert

Also Robert,
not sure about Saxon, but locally, Skywatcher offers a 5 year warranty on all their scopes/mounts.....
Big plus in my opinion!
Cheers

That is a good warranty. Definitely a +++.
Hope to pick one up tomorrow. Then watch the clouds roll in.
I'm planning on putting my Nexstar 6SE SCT on it. The AltAz is just not up to anything photographic beyond the moon.
Cheers,
Robert
