Ruby Anniversary

I got very lucky when I met the girl who became my better half 40 years ago.

Booked a Villa suite at "Packer's Pecker" aka the Crown in Sydney for our
Ruby wedding anniversary.

Quite the room with quite the balcony view (attached). Pity it was cloudy.

Keen eyed viewers might be able to spot the time-ball atop Sydney Observatory
in the dark area near centre frame.

We asked about booking the room again on New Years.

Ouch...cheaper to hire a helicopter (and get an even better view!)

Thanks gents,

The photo is roughly a 30 minute time exposure....which made me ponder
just what was being photographed.

So I made yet another of my infamous "roll-over" images

Dates of locations some of the more notable landmarks here. Have fun!

Peter,
Congratulations to you and your wife on a significant marriage milestone
A few of my mates didn’t even make it to the 20 year mark ( sadly divorced with kids )
My wife and I are coming up to 42 years , met when we were 16 , just kids
Lovely photo of arguably one of the greatest Cities in the world ( that’s if you consider City’s great )
All the best
Martin

Again, thank you all for the hearty responses....they were unexpected.
Indeed, there were many of my peers in QF who were on spouse MK2 or Mk3.
But as the old adage goes: happy wife, happy life.

I'd also mention my wife has Irish/Italian heritage. I learnt long ago you really didn't want to upset her too much. To quote The Bard: "Though she be little, she be fierce!"

Congrats Peter and wife.

Not as many marriages these days last that long and I'd hazard to say the trend is heading worse so it makes it all the more special.

Greg.

Thanks Gents. Perhaps we are rare birds and I wish I could give a formula
to a happy marriage. Lord knows we've had our ups and downs.

I used to advise young QF pilots who had little control in how they were rostered, to put important family events first. Sure you try to keep within "the system" to be there for important graduation/birdhday/whatever and should not abuse personal leave. But being in London while your eldest has a graduation is not an option. Your presence at critical times in a partnership is essential.

Congratulations Peter and your dearly beloved!

We are also about to celebrate our 40th anniversary, (23 April ) I cannot for the life of me understand how Jennifer has put up with me and my hobbies of 40 cars, 10 boats, a couple of telescopes as well as windsurfers, jet skis, 4WDs etc……

Ah yes! The toys.

I must admit having migrated from a 1956 VW (6 volt electrical system...had illuminated indicator arms that pivoted out of the door pillars) when we first met.

I took her for a spin in the Ferrari a while back.....she was cross! ....it was a literal spin (lost control).
Thankfully, no damage apart from my pride...but I was in the house of the dog for quite a while!

P.S. and Congrats for the 23rd !
