Hi Mike. I'm sure it's probably already crossed your mind but your place is a perfect setup for an astronomy B&B. It would be a surefire winner. But maybe you don't want to lose your privacy.

Cheers Richard...yes, a number of options have crossed my mind and in the early days up here, man, I was so excited, I had many, shall we say?... exuberant, perhaps a tad grandiose, ideas ...buuuut as time has gone on...meah, the idea of just having it as a beautiful, peaceful, relaxing, sub-alpine private astro getaway, for my family, friends and astro buddies, is slowly settling in as sufficient...

Dang!, very ordinary seeing tonight...so, Eagleview is mortal afterall .....oh well, otherwise a beautiful night, no dew yet and only a very light breeze, so observing is still fun, spotted the small faint spiral near M104 in the 18" dob ...veeery faint though

Glad you could still take advantage of the clear sky. That’s incredible that you can pick that spiral out!

Sounds great mate I finished imaging and shut down the scope around 1am and have been having a ball visually observing with a couple of astro mates and the 18" dob. Apart from the average seeing, all other aspects of the conditions are excellent, low humidity, goid transparency and no wind...going to be an all nighter
Despite the less than ideal seeing conditions for imaging ie. while a good handful of subs earlier in the night were under 2.0" FWHM, most subs were in the 2.0"-2.5" range with a few near the end, as the target sunk in the West, fuzzing out to just under 3" (hey, I have become fussy now ) it was a great all-nighter of deep sky observing with mates until dawn...so much fun, cold sure...but fun fun fun was able to nab a (all be it right at the limit) Mag 16.6 galaxy, so conditions weren't aaall bad, would probably have been easier with good seeing...eg. couldn't convince ourselves of being able to see the central star in the Ring Nebula ...though it was obviously pretty low in the North and transited through the glow of Canberra...
Then after the drive down the mountain, around lunchtime today, feeling nicely contented with the fabulous all-night observing fest, a breakfast/brunch of champions was in order on the way home, nom, nom, nom

Eagleview is back near its usual seeing quality tonight, woohoo...beautiful still, cold, steady, dark night, only imaging, no observing this time.. life's good
..mate you're one of the main reasons I've kept posting trivia to this thread, seems there are still some who enjoy and can relate to, the so far fairly joyous, saga..
I am salivating, just looking at that image. Damn, that looks good.
The Michelago General Store Cafe has recently changed owners and that's a new burger on their menu..bloody delicious, I can see having one of these becoming a regular thing on drives home after long nights..
