NGC300 Galaxy

Jeez it was good to be home for a moonless and cloudless weekend, so, I had two very late nights . One of my targets was NGC300. It's a lovely looking galaxy albeit quite faint; I will need to collect a lot more data but thought I'd share my initial image. Alex

Precious moonless and cloudless nights! Many distant galaxies have surfaced already in the image! Isn't it always interesting to see all those details in the background! Looking forward to see your final image!!

Hi Alex and Markus, and thanks for the encouragement. I’ll def be spending more time on this one, might even try for a long session (or two) with my ASI482MC planetary cam as it has a nice FOV for galaxies and it’s big pixels pair well with my refractor. And, the cam works nicely in the Canberra winter where it’s often around 0° or below at night. Alex

Lovely shot mate. This one’s definitely on my list too if I can get some clear/dark skies. With a bit more integration you’ll really start to see those colours start to pop! Great job
