Try it Again: Leica R180/4

The perfect lens to slip onto any of the EOS cameras for wide field piggy-back imaging. Biting sharp, and with a focus ring sufficiently stiff to give precise and repeatable focus.

Leica R 180/4 with front and rear caps. Lens is made in Germany and is in wonderful condition, apart from one very slight indentation to the sliding lens hood. This is purely cosmetic only. Find a sharper lens than this if you can.
$500. With free R - EOS adaptor ring. Solid metal, and precise.

Also available a Contax/Yashica lens - EOS adaptor ring. $30.

Contact via PM please.

Just uploaded the only astro shot I have taken with this lens. If it weren't for the fact I can't quite get the CFW/CCD to come to focus with it (a mil of backfocus short, darn), I would be keeping it. In the end I have had to replace it with a Pentax 6x7 lens.
The Leica will be "plug and play" with any of the EOS bodies that most forum members use. Or via most of the OSC CCD's as well.

Hi Marc,
thanks. Don't resist too long, LOL. Honestly though, the L series Canon lenses are nice, very, but the Leica's are as well. Could you find a 200L for this sort of money? And for astro, the manual focus to my mind is a bonus, focus seems better, as the auto-focus lenses I have used in the past have really only paid lip-service to manual focusing.
On the QHY8 it worked a treat, IIRC, this shot was with the QHY8.

Thanks mate but I think I've stretched my astro budget for this year. If I push it I'll come home to two suit cases with an air france ticket

Gary.. What is the backfocus distance on this lens? from mount to chip?
My new camera + CFWs distance between chip to the front of the CFW is 39.5mm, adding a T-thread to eos lens adapter I'd imagine it would be something like 43mm from lens mount to sensor...

Hi Alex.
the official word is 47mm, rear of bayonet to sensor/film.
Any camera that will accept a Canon EOS lens will also accept this Leica, by using the adaptor that accompanies it. So it can fit the likes of your new 8300, or any of the EOS digitals, or the QHY8 etc.
Stunning alternative to the likes of the Canon L series lenses though.
