The Great Nebula in Carina - First Effort

Hi All,

My first effort of Carina. It's been a while coming. Images were taken on 11th April and then I've had to learn PixInsight to get better at processing.
I got a Celestron RASA 8" as a gift to myself last Sept and been steadily improving my equipment configuration, exposure technique and processing skills. Have a few more images taken previously and since that i'll likely post too. Keen to get some feedback and guidance so I can improve.

Equipment:
Astrograph: Celestron RASA 8"
Mount: Celestron CGX
Camera: ZWO ASI1600MM
Filter Equipment: Starizona Filter Drawer + Baader 2" Ha/Oiii
Guiding: ZWO ASI120mm mini guider and 30F4 Guidescope
Software: ASIAIR + PixInsight

4xHa 120s
4xOiii 120s
10 x Darks + 5 Flats

Oiii has been stretched quite far to make it pop a little.
Images were combined in PixelMath process with Ha mapped to red, Oiii to Blue, (Ha*0.5)+(Oiii*0.5) to Green. After some colour processing, I've added a Ha to Luminance channel at the end.

I'm aware the orientation isn't as seen from Earth, but happy with the composition regardless. Still trying to figure out a way to get orientation right without introducing tilt.

A fine result Will, it is a small file but the field correction looks to be very good!

Thanks Mike.
I'll see if there are any other formats I can export to in PixInsight for better results. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Kind Regards,
Will

You’ve produced a very good Carina Nebula there Will and it looks like you have a good hardware and software base to move on with.
