Deep dive into ZWO's new beginners scope - SeeStar

If you are looking for a cheaper and simpler option to get into astrophotography this might be just what you are looking for.

SeeStar offers a combination of mount, telescope and camera in one compact package that uses a mobile app for Android and IOS devices as the control panel.

This new telescope has been designed for the complete newcomer to astronomy and astro imaging as well as being highly portable and even includes its own batteries.

I took a look at what SeeStars is, what it isn't, show a tour round the hardware and mobile app and look who who I think this telescope is aimed aimed at.

I will be covering off more SeeStar videos as our beta testing progresses so do subscribe so we can keep you up to date, and we will also be offering some support videos on how to set up your SeeStar, operate it and process images captured by it.

It's pretty impressive and simple/ easy for newcomers to use ... nice grab and go for more advanced users too

Cheers

Simon

Far as I know the only people other than beta testers like Simon to have received the SS50 are those who preordered on April 13/14, and some who bought of an ecommerce site in Hong Kong.

So if you want to lay your hands on it, be prepared to be patient and for a long wait…..

Should add that it’s looking terrific for white light solar imaging

It looks great for the price, but the choice of IMX462 sensor is “limiting”.

Could be a gateway for more to get into the hobby though.
