Bullialdus

Hi all,

Last image from late October nights of excellent seeing.

Bullialdus (60km Dia) named for French astronomer ismael Boulliau (1605-94).He was a priest and member of the Republic of Letters, a correspondence group discussing science and philosophy. Some of his correspondents were Galileo, Huygens and Fermat.

Wolf (25km Dia) named for Astrophotography pioneer Max Wolf (1863-1932).

"Ghost" crater, Lubiniezky (43km Dia.) named for Polish astronomer Stanislaus Lubiniezky (1623-1675).

Ghost craters are filled with lava to the point where they are sometimes mere tracings on the mare floor. I count 18 potential ghosts from thin traces to ruined walls flooded with lava.
