Good Morning from the Lake of the Dead

Lacus Mortus (151km Dia.) taken on Friday 20/10/23. The crater in the middle of the lake is Burg (40km Dia.), named after Austrian astronomer, Johann Burg. I'm not sure if there is any meaning to this placement of his name in such a morbid place!

Approx 2000 frames washed through AutoStakkert then 10% stacked and sharpened in Registax.

Thanks guys. Th C9.25 and the ZWO is a great combo. I still think it is the small pixels (2.4 microns) that make the difference. Or perhaps I have finally, after 20 years of trying, unconsciously improved my technique

Have to say that I'm enjoying all of your images posted recently Richard.
Improvements and availability in equipment and software technology has been the game changer for imaging in the past decade, and will continue to be I hope.

Thanks Jeff. The Newcastle Astro Society recently had a talk from member Brad LeBroque who is part of the David Malin Awards group. He showed some of the images of deep sky objects and they were stunning in the detail of hitherto unattainable dust lanes etc in nebulae and galaxies. The next leap forward will I imagine be AI based - very interesting and a bit scary to see how AI "fills in the fuzzy bits" in the future. Not sure if AI won't take the sport and "luck" out of imaging.
