Samyang 135mm f2 lens????

http://www.spectro-aras.com/forum/vi...php?f=8&t=1860
The above review although written for amateur spectroscopists does contain some interesting info on this lens - compared to the Canon 85 f1.8.
Has anyone tried it yet???

Hello Ken,

If you're interested in purchasing this lens then read the following review (over 12 webpages) with glee. It's a fantastic result with excellent control of coma (see p7) and class leading (or close to it) resolution (see p4). The only downside is marginally worse vignetting compared with its Canon or Zeiss rivals, which cost many times more and of course no autofocus if you need it for daytime photography.

Best

JA,
I currently use the Canon 85mm for objective grating spectra with a FULL full modded Canon 1000D.
The Samyang report shows a better spectral performance.... but I'd have to sell the 85mm first.

Hi Ken,
I bought a Samyang 135 f2 earlier in the year and am certainly very happy with it so far (I even managed two HMs in the wide-field section of the Malin Awards using it).

The main caveat seems to be the Samyang quality control. Make sure you buy from a vendor that allows returns if you get a less than perfect example.

It’s on my wish list
A good copy has better colour control but slightly worse edge correction than the Zeiss version.
