I've just joined IIS

Hello my name is Elizabeth and I am 8 years old.
My Daddy is Rocket Boy and I like astronomy too so I joined IIS too.
I've looked through daddy's telescopes and my favorite things are, jupiter, saturn, orion, the moon, southern cross, pleades and omega centuri.
I've also helped daddy photograph the sun and we have seen the green flash at sunset together.
I hope one day I have my own telescope.

Bye for now.

Astro Girl,

Welcome to IIS...

I am glad to hear that you are interested in Astronomy...my 8 year old son Campbell is too. We have two telescopes that he uses...an 8 inch Dob and a 60 mm "Wobbletronic" refractor we got from "VingCo Pty Ltd"...

He will be going with me to the SPSP at the end of the month...it should be fun!

Anyway, I hope that you continue to enjoy Astronomy and the otehr sciences!

Clear Skies,

Hey Astro Girl.

Glad you could join us.

I was about your age when I first got into astronomy too. It's a great hobby which you'll grow to love even more as the years go by.

Your favourites are similar to mine, too.

And you've seen the green flash at sunset. That's something I've not seen, even after all my years in this hobby. Good for you

I reckon the best thing about it all is that it's all up there, above our heads, just waiting for us to have a look.

PS Don't listen to Tony (Striker). He's a very naughty man

Clear skies

Hi Elizabeth, great to hear one so young is interested in astronomy. You (and your dad) are very lucky. My daughter is only 7, but she likes Bratz dolls more than telescopes

Hi Astro Girl,

Welcome to Ice In Space.

If you could choose, what sort of telescope would you like to have?

I hope you have clear skies,

Brian.

Hi Astro Girl and welcome to the forum.

I don't have any children but I do have a cat about your age. He keeps me company when I do astronomy and usually sits near the telescope.

When he was a kitten he use my wooden telescope stand as a scratching post and now it's all scratched up!

My cat likes it when I get the scope out, I have stood on her a couple of times...pretty scary in the dark. She likes to check if I have put anything new in the eyepiece box!

Hi Elizabeth and welcome to IIS.
You don't have a scope yet? I think you should ask your dad to buy you a nice new William Optics 80mm Zenithstar Flourite Doublet APO.
A fine scope for your very first.
