Asimov,

You can buy the self adhesive stuff from Spotlight. Its in the craft section and it comes in pre-cut sheets about 300mm x 250mm. I am not sure what they call it, certainly not "flocking paper". The stuff they sell works very well, the glue is very sticky and the sheets come in a nice "manageable" size. Also it doesn't "shed" easily so its a good serviceable material.

I will ask my wife tonight what they call it, she works there.

Hi
If you go to Mitre10 and ask for the following,

" foil self velour"
velour std black. Part No alk132068.
Cost $14 a metre.
This works just fine, I recently flocked my tube with it.

Good luck.

Bunning's used to carry these (self adhesive velvet or something). They don't anymore.

Be careful with this as not all Mitre10's are created equal...I went to two in the Sydney area and neither had this item...they reminded me that each store is an individual franchise...Also no luck at Bunnings near me either...

I went to Lincraft in the end and got some adhesive backed felt...worked a treat but was expensive...$2.50 per 9x12 sheet...that is why I only flocked around the focuser...

I am anxious to hear the Spotlight "name"...I also visited a Spotlight in my "quest for the black flock" (sort of like Jason and the golden fleece) trailing my kids around Sydney on a Saturday afternoon...

Cheers,

You guys thought about try a lighting and Sound/Audio visual suppliers

ie:
in Sydney... Grafton Sound and Lighting, Bourke street and Panovision is another. These guys supplies television studios and film sets. You should find a variety of flocking materials they use on sets. One variety I'm thinking of using when I retube my newt is a flat/matt black foil. All designed to absorb reflections or darkening off areas of a stage. Even give the Sydney theatre companies set department a call they could probably help you on a supplier.

I used to work in the industry and used this stuff fairly regularly. Although having never personally brought it I do remember it can be fairly expensive.

Just my thoughts

regards
