new idiot here

hi all, i made few posts here and thought layout a few tidbits about myself, i was invited by hammerman (gary) and also live on the other side of world, mainly where all the clouds and light pollution condense, somedays the sun is actually visible here, i havent observed for quite awhile now, mainly because i got this obsession to take astro photos, 99% end up in the recycle bin and im a complete idiot with processing, i got a kick out of garys post welcoming chris g, saying he had a twisted sense of humor- LOL, course you have to know me better to realize what im talking about!,i took a more serious interest in $$$$$$$$$hobby about 6 years ago, i have a great 9.25 OTA mounted on a chinese ASGT thats fairly accurate and leaves star trails with a lagging DEC, 12" DSH thats a pain in the butt to push all night, SV80mm nighthawk supposedly built like a tank and seems to WEIGH about the same, and a newly aquired WO66ED i got for a guidescope due to the ASGT 'super tracking' ability, course i havent figured out the guiding programs either yet- thats about it i guess- you have a great looking forum here- john

Hi John
Welcome to the forum from someone that is also new to IIS
I to can relate with you when it comes to processing and feel like a lame duck at times.I have been involved in Astronomy for last 20yrs and have always wanted to have a dabble in imaging but the processing has kept me at arms lenght.Just recently became interested in Video Astronomy and purchased a camera which enables me to view direct to the monitor live.
The images seen are spectacular and now find it hard to view visualy.

Now I find myself getting involved with the processiing side with a steep learning cuve with programs like Registax and visual dub and dvdx
It is forums like this were people have a wealth of information on all topics and are only to willing to share with others can ease the frustration.

Regards
Dave

Hi John, you sound like me all those years ago when i started astro-photography, but it was film in those days digital haden't been invented then, (well maybe it had), but i knew nothing about it.
i didn't even know what a computer was.
In those days the first one i saw was a Commadore 64, which took ten days to load a program
I think i just about used all the film that Kodak had, and most went into the bin.
Anyway welcome to this site i'm sure you will enjoy it.

Leon
