Nebula Database - Is there a good one?
Hi everyone!
I was just dropping in to see if anyone knows of a nebula database or 'wiki' style site with not only information about nebulae, but technical information relevant to astrophotography.
For example, I would like to compare how bright the Carina nebula is in H-alpha compared to, say, the Orion nebula in H-alpha. Sure, I could determine this photometrically by just looking at the ADU or SNR (or some analysis like that) of my sensor after exposing under similar conditions between the two objects, but surely there is some type of database or website that has this information?
Another example, I know some nebula are much stronger in other narrowband frequencies besides Ha, like some planetary and supernova remnant nebulas. It would be useful to determine what would be the best ratio between SII, OIII and Ha filters for total exposure time.
Any suggestions?
