What if over the next 10 yrs CCDs keep getting more sensitive and low noise electronic readout is possible in a second or less? If we had current-CCD, or better, sensitivity then you could stack thousands of sub second images of deep space objects. You'd have the benefit of great signal to noise and possibly be able to "Registax" out the seeing, getting most of the benefit of active guiding at (hopefully) a fraction of the price.
