Occultation Of Porrima

Hi all.

There is an upcoming spectacular event for observers in Perth, a lunar occultation of the naked eye star Porrima (Gamma Virginis) on the night of Tue 30 May starting at 6pm. East coast observers will see a close conjunction.

The actual occultation will start around 6:14pm so best to start observing earlier than that as the moon creeps closer to Porrima. This is an excellent opportunity to observe (or record) a lunar occultation of a naked eye star. Porrima will reappear on the bright opposite lunar limb at 7:15pm.

May I add all times listed are West Australian Standard Time. Also Porrima is a spectacular double star, so this will add to the beauty of the event!
