Did something really STOOPID!

Hi,

So I bought a used 22mm Televue Panoptic the other day, and today I get home from work to the package sitting on my dinner table. I tear open the box with anticipation, and sure enough there she was.

A quick check of the lenses showed no signs of any real scratches or marks.
But they were covered in fingerprints so I decided to clean them up with windowcleaner. Anyway the bottom lens needed some attention too, so I proceeded to unscrew the chrome barrel to get to the inside lens better.

Between getting distracted by my wife and dog, I somehow managed to tip the barrel upside down and out came all the lenses and spacers onto my table.

There were: 4 lenses and 4 spacers.

The 2 outside lenses are a no-brainer,
But I'm unsure of the correct configuration of the middle 2 lenses.

Does anyone have any experience in putting the lenses back in the correct order? Any websites showing the optical array as a diagram? I looked for about an hour and couldnt find one diagram on the net.

I am currently without a scope to even test it on, as my 12" scope is a few days away still

Any help is greatly appreciated on reasssembling the lenses.

If no-one knows in here maybe you could email TeleVue and ask them to email you the re-assembly diagram.

Tried to find Televue's email, but no such luck. They only give out their telephone no. in America.

Real sorry to hear of your problem... I would suggest contacting a local Televue dealer - they must be able to get that sort of information for you.

Even if they only have a phone number, ring them! You can do it off-peak local time and it'll probably only cost a few dollars. Considering the value of the EP, it will be money well spent!! It's always easier to get an answer on the phone than via e-mail.
Good luck!

Try asking Bintel - they're the only Televue supplier in Australia. I'm sure they'll help you out.

Don't panic Dark! you could put It back together your self trial&error before you have to send It to Televue! It won't change anything now and you will get It right after a few goes.

Its a 22mm panoptic. Any diagram would help me out atm. I would say the nagler would be similar in design so it would give me a good idea anyhow!

Do you have any links?

I rang Bintel today and they said they would ask Televue if they could get a copy of thow the lens array is situated.

But they told me that Televue don't really like doing that sort of thing so who knows???

I know how the 2 outside lenses are situated,

All I need to know is how the 2 inner lenses are faced.
If Televue won't even tell me that then I doubt I will buy another one of their products again.
