strengthening mount for ED80

Last night, I used my ED80 on Saturn for the first time. Seeing was poor, but I had a great time using my own scope for the first time. Even the wife was impressed.

I am, however, left with a minor problem: at high magnifications, the image wobbles for a few seconds after adjusting the focus or the slow motion controls. The effect is not too bad, as it only lasts a few seconds, but I'd like to find out if there is a way to minimise this effect.

Any suggestions?
Would placing a heavy weight on the tripod tray minimise the effect?

what sorta mount you got yagon? once we know that then we may be able to sugsest ways to rectify your problem.

on my old telescope i placed 2 house bricks on the EP tray to stableise it so it may verywell be that it will help you.... do you place it on grass, concrete, or some other surface?

Or build an inexpensive tripod like Dave47Tuc's. It is solid as a rock.

or dont extend the legs on your tripod and view from a low chair
its amazing how much wobble extended legs give!

my wife would kill me if I did this

I'll try the house bricks and shorter legs at this stage

thanks for the feedback

Very simple, but very effective!

I second the idea about Dave47tuc style wooden tripod legs.
In fact I third the idea as I put Dave onto it in the first place
