Crayford Focuser??

Hi all
I bought the Bintel BT-203 (the 8" one) a week or two ago. One thing i noticed were the two bolts that screw into the focuser were very bent (It came like this, it was half assembled). The problem is i used it for the first proper time last night and it would not hold the lenses properly, it would keep slipping. Casue the bolts are badly bent i cant do it up to secure it. So i undid them both a little and now the focuser is all loose and wont wind at all. Should i take it back to Bintel??? Or is there a simple way to fix the problem and get some unbent bolts.

Cheers

Hmm well i tightened the top bolt up as much as i could until the bent part got in the way. It seems to work but i cant do the bottom one up or it locks (Is this actually a locking mechanism so it doesnt go out of focus or should i stil be able to do it up)

Cheers people

Send it back. Bintel are great to deal with and they would only be too happy to help you out.

I agree, when I bought my ED80 last year the objective cell had been damaged, minor but noticable. Suspiciously like it had been knocked before packing, and also more importantly the glass looked out of alignment.
Instead of stuffing around trying to fix it they just replaced the whole thing for me.

Yeah, just bring it back, or come in and we'll give you two new lock bolts if that is all it needs.

That is why you buy from someone like Bintel, just take it back and I'm sure they will have no worries about fixing you up.

Cheers
