Eta Carina - detail - smoke rings

A rare post. It's been a while. This is a StarTools rendition of the Eta Car nebula.

I'm curious about the feature in the lower right arm. To the untrained eye, a ring and bell formation spilling out of the ring, fed by what appears to be a vortex. The spine of which can be seen across the arm. There seems to be an outer shell to the vortex dragged around by the core. The tip of the vortex seems to intersect the bell at its rim, perhaps spinning the whole thing - and perhaps, just my imagination.

I'm sure I've seen an image of this elsewhere but could not relocate it.

I’d like to say yes… but I can’t tell.
Suffice to say every ripple and bulge etc has some meaning, it’s just being able to determine why. Good luck with your research
