G’day Peter,
My ed80 light box is still going strong, it’s a good piece of kit.
Without scrolling through, I could be up for RedCat 51 light box, with mini Anderson terminals, is that something you have done before/ want to do. Happy to take the chat to PM.

Hi mate, as far as the connectors go, nope not used them. If anyone wants a different connection, I am happy to leave the end of the power cord just tinned.
The Red cat, not heard of that one. So if you want, come up on my email and we can discuss. exfso2@aussiebb.com.au

Hi, how much for a 240v (or USB powered, no 12v) light box to suit a Skywatcher EVOSTAR ED80?

Sorry mate, I only do the 12vdc or 9vdc version.
If you could come up with a 240ac power supply to suite a 12vdc input using a 2.1mm plug, that will work.

I have noticed recently there is a trend for people to ask me about light boxes etc and I do respond only not to hear a word from them ever again. I believe this is quite rude. Please if someone wants information please have the decency to at least let me know you have received my response, this is just common courtesy IMHO.

I am still getting people asking for information which I provide and I do not even get an acknowledgement, this is frustrating, so please do not ask if you are not genuine, in my opinion it is very poor form.

Yes I would agree with this, I got the idea off the web in 2004 from memory and modified it to suite and obviously use LEDS. Light boxes for larger scopes are a challenge and getting the bits and pieces can be a bit of a problem. My original was borne out of the fact I did not want to pay the ridiculous prices that were being charged for this in the USA, and I believe that manufacturer is no longer in business. From memory a light box for my TAK 130 was in the order of $600US then, and that was a lot of dollars over 20 years ago. Members on the forum got wind of what I had done and wanted me to make them for their scopes. That is it in a nutshell.

Yeah, I was looking for something like this back in 2009

Ended up making my own from craft board and LEDS
