Cool Bought a scope!!!!! :)

Intes MN56!!
http://www.iteastronomy.com/products...iew.php?p=MN56

Bought it off Phil, second hand. Now I have a 26mm EP, a scope, an EQ mount, laser collimator, another collimator which I dunno how to use, toucam with an adaptor and IV/IR filter on the way, binoculars, and more... My collection is growing! Phil helped me set it up last night at his place, and we checked out Saturn!!

I was thinking of changing this focuser in the near future, though. I am looking at these so far:

Bintel Crayford Focuser Low Profile 10:1 = $149
Bintel Crayford Focuser 10:1 (2") = $119
Andrews: Guang Sheng 2" focuser with 10:1 fine focusing (inc. 1.25" adaptor) - $119.00

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Congrats on the scope, looks like a beauty.

Why do you want to change the focuser? It already has a low profile Crayford from the specs.

Cool

Yeah, it does. But I'd like a 10:1.......ah, dunno...ever since I started getting into astronomy, I keep wanting to buy more. It's terrible!

I BLAME YOU PHIL!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm also on the look for some EPs. <-- Pffft..trying to use the acronyms....

I have a 26mm....I was thinking of getting a 40mm, and one between 10 and 15mm, plus a 2X barlow. I want around a 70deg.+ FOV, and I want to pay about $300 for all. I'd also kinda prefer 2" EPs.

http://www.myastroshop.com.au/produc...asp?id=MAS-174 - 30mm 80deg. I know, only 30mm...but looks awesome for $129.

http://www.myastroshop.com.au/produc...asp?id=MAS-185 - 9mm 66deg. - $75

Meade Series 4000 Super Plössl 40mm (1.25") from Bintel - $1.25" (why no 2"??)

Hmm....I definitely want a 2", 8 - 15mm EP with a UW FOV....

Any suggestions?

From what I can see you have a 125mm f6 scope giving a focal length of 750mm.

Your present 20mm eyepiece would give you 37x magnification with an exit pupil of 3.3mm.

For a new selection of eyepieces consider:
  • The 30mm you have already chosen for big views giving 25x and an exit pupil of 5mm so your eye can easily handle it.
  • A 12mm which will give you 63x and an exit pupil of 2mm, a good workhorse eyepiece for this scope.
  • A 7mm which will give you about 100x and an exit pupil about 1.2mm which is a good exit pupil for seeing fine detail.
Only make the 30mm a 2" as the others don't need the width to allow them to get their FOV and they will be cheaper. With tracking you could go for some good plossls in these smaller sizes which will give good crisp views and allow you to study the object really well.

Add a good 1.25" 2x barlow like the Orion Shorty Plus and you will be set up for everything.

Cheers
