One of the new ones

Greetings all,

I'm one of the new registered users who has not posted yet, just kinda looking, learning and getting the "vibe" as it were for the minute. Have not got any gear yet, but I'm in the process of selling a few of my guitars to aquire some. I'm thinking of a Megrez 80 apo on a Losmandy G8 at this point in time, haven't thought to much on eyepieces and such yet.
As a by the way I'm a furniture maker and am about to start on a "cats perch" observing chair will post some piccys when done.

Anyway enough writing I'm going back to reading.

Cheers
Peter O

Hi Peter O!
to the forum! How did you hear about us?

Sounds like you're on the right track, doing your research before diving in! The setup you're looking at will be great for widefield astrophotography - is that what you plan to get into?

Can't wait to see your chair also!

Welcome! Seeing your choice of equipment I am assuming that you are primarily interested in astrophotography. If so then your choice would be a sound one. The Megrez would be rock solid on the G8. But if you are a visual observer might I suggest one of the GSO dobs (10"f/5 or 12"f/5). Those are the best bang for the buck. And do keep us updated on your observing chairs

Looking forward to seeing your chair. I'm interested in the cat's perch also, I've seen a nice one available in the US and would like to build. Can you please post some plans as well.

Hi Peter an observing chair is one useful tool ! good choice of gear your thinking about but you might like a bit more aperture on that G8 mount.
Maybe a 8"sct would be a good all-round scope.
