Celestron ultima 2000

G'day, I have been offered a Celestron Ultima 2000 8" at a pretty good price, it comes with wedge. I know that these scopes are at least 10 years old, so I tried to research it, but have pretty well hit a brick wall. I want to use this for Astrophotography (planets, deep space etc), can anyone give me more information on this scope, can they be upgraded, are they any good, or am I better off saving a bit more and get a newer version of a Celestron scope.
Any help is muchly appreciated.

PS I introduced myself in the beginners start here for those of you wondering where I popped in from. Hi

Regards, Dutch

Hi Dutch, I have an Ultima 8" 1990's vintage
I don't know if there is much difference between the two, probably electronics if anything
If you want to do Astro imaging an EQ mount would be preferable to the fork mount.
The scope itself is a very good scope, I am very happy with mine
Cheers
