Optical tube is a nice snug fit in a Stellarvue padded case (without the straight-through extension tube)
I copied Matt's (Kunama's) idea of using a Stellarvue R.A. finder-works very well
I must also thank Matt for his advice prior to buying this scope.

Here is my newest scope. Been working physically on this for the past three months and mentally for about 30 something years....ever since drooling over the Unitron catalogue as a kid.
My home made 6" f12 Istar Refractor.

Hey Laurie, where did you get the padded Stellarvue case from?
Direct from Stellarvue, Tony.
It's a snug fit, but you can fit the scope with mounting rings, but without the focuser extension.
They do make a longer case, but its not available at the moment
I like your white T-Rex Matt - easier to see in the dark. Mine came second hand so I didn't have to choose the color.
On a maintenance note, the focuser on the TSA will loosen over time but it's easy to adjust, being constructed according to the same principles as the cheaper rack and pinions. The grub screws on top of the focuser bear on a pressure plate and there are slides at the 4 & 8 o'clock positions.
The focuser tube on mine was loose/wobbly and wouldn't hold any weight but 1/16th turn on the 3 grub screws firmed it up. I used acetone to melt away the glue seal over the grub screws and cleaned up the hole with a small drill bit.

I was given, very generously I might add, a Feathertouch Micro Pinion Assembly by Graeme (Rigel003) which I fitted soon after so did not use the stock one very much. The FT MPA is a beautiful bit of kit but took quite a bit to get adjusted just right.
Now that's how a telescope should look , congratulations Matt it looks superb , bet its a planet killer ?
