When you reply scroll down the page to manage attachments, click that and out pops the bit you need. Click on choose file and get the photo from wherever it is on your computer. Choose the one you want and click choose and then upload….wait a bit and it should appear in the manage attachments spot, then do a preview just to make sure and bobs your uncle!
Not exactly a technical version of how to do it but hope it works.

Ok I just tried and the file size of a test photo is 1.59 MB (1,668,922 bytes) JPEG and 3 times it said "upload failed"
I think the JPEG file size can be up to 200 MB

On my MacBook I do this:
Go to iPhoto's and just click the one I want, it gets a yellow box around it.
Then up to the toolbar,I think it's called, click on file go down to export which opens another box. I click custom and do an 800 for the size. Then export it to what ever file you want, then manage attachments etc etc etc. If you use one of those other computers I got no idea!
Fingers crossed. Bob is my kids Uncle actually!

Ok first I managed to post a photo but when I click on it it is to big for the screen I have to scroll up and down and sideways to view it,,,,,so what did I so wrong.

I have the set up at work on a dolly and when a customer comes in and is interested and especially if they have kids with them I ask if they want to have a look at the sun, so I wheel it out the back or front of the workshop depending it is morning or afternoon and let them have a look, and always they are amazed then they don't think of how much I just charged them for fixing their car.

Ok the scope on the left is a Orion 120/600 f5 with a JMI Event Horizon focuser and a Baader Herschel Wedge with a ES 8.8mm eyepiece for white light viewing.

The one on the right started life as a SkyWatcher 102/510 f5, I replaced the focuser with a Moonlite Focuser then got my mate to make an adapter to mount a Coronado SM90 filter and a BF15 filter diagonal on the other end with a ES 11mm eyepiece for Ha viewing.

Both are sitting on a SkyWatcher Alt-Az mount.

Most of the stuff I got from Steve at AstroShop.com

I am at home now and the scopes are at work so I will get some more photos on Monday if you can wait.

Alan

Hi Alan, the limit for posting pics is 200 Kb, not Mb. although it will allow a little over the stated limit, hence your pic at 202.2 Kb. As you managed to post a pic, I assume you know how to downsize your images.

When you click on your photo (after uploading it) and it appears too big for the screen move the mouse to the top right of the window and a couple of controls will appear, click on the one with the four triangles around a circle (bit like a compass) it will then scale the picture down to fit the window.

Nice photos Alan.
Now can you start a thread in the Equipment section with your scopes and explain what where and how you have done all this…please

I'm binoing the sun with a Baader solar filter and my 6"f12 frac, description of which is in the ATM section plus photos of course, and I wouldn't mind making my 4" ED frac into a bit of a solar scope with the expensive parts up the front end…..no idea what is good whats bad how much, other than expensive and is it worth it.
Looks good Alan
