Would this scope be ok to start with???

After a lot of chat and more research came up with this as a telescope any good ?????

Bintel N200 EQ6 Pro https://www.bintelshop.com.au/Images/Stock/8164.jpg
Bintel's 200mm f/5 Newtonian coupled with the EQ6 Pro GOTO mount is a perfect match.

- Longer 1000mm focal length provides good image scale with most digital imaging systems.

- Smooth 10:1 Crayford focuser supplied as standard.

- Large knurled collimation knobs on the primary mirror cell for easy alignment.
Mirror cooling fan installed.

- New tube rings (included) now have cast mouldings allowing a top rail to be attached for guide scopes (Orion Guide Scope bars are not included but available to suit). Supplied with quality 8x50 achromatic finderscope, 25mm and 9mm Plossl and 35mm Extension tube for visual use. The EQ6 Pro mount provides the stability and accuracy to allow long exposure astrophotography. The Autoguiding port is configured to accept off the shelf autoguiding cameras such as the Orion Starshoot Autoguider.

Nice starter scope but hardly a beginners scope. May take a few weeks to master it even with help.

A good starter scope, but as Barry said, hardly a beginners scope. However, you have plenty of time to learn how to use it and in the meantime you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

Be sure to join your local astronomical society, though. The more experienced members will be able to help you out greatly and you'll learn heaps off of them.

Rob I started with an 200mm f/5 reflector (a skywatcher) but not on a goto (which is still my one and only )...have had a few frustrations working it all out but am still pleased with my choice. The goto with autoguiding port is a great idea to facilitate imaging at a later date if thats where you want to go(to).

Don't forget also that this forum is an excellent source of information both on past threads and by asking questions.

Enjoy making you choice, you learn a lot just by researching. And it SO exciting when you finally get the scope.

Newtonians on eq mounts: Great for imaging but way too much mucking around for visual. Just IMO.

I agree with Geoff. If you are into astrophotography then the GEM is a must BUT if you are starting in visual with the aim of getting into photos then you will be very flexible from getting to the eyepiece in short time.

Still its a grerat scope.
