[Retrograde (Pete)]

Hi all - this is my second image with the (still not fully tuned in) Esprit 80.

The wide-field of this scope allows the whole of this large object to be imaged and I was able able to include both the planetary nebula PK 294-00 1 and the nearby star cluster NGC 3766.
IC 2944 imaged here in HOO (Antlia ALPT filter) with RGB stars (Optolong L-Pro filter) from Bortle 7 skies. I would've liked more data on this but the weather has other ideas so it'll have to do for now.

Nicely framed and processed
For only 2 hours the image resolution is really clean under B7 skies ( with no moon around helps too I suppose )

Thanks Mike - even some hints of detail in it despite it's diminutive size (68" across) & the scope's short focal length.

Thanks Dave! I decided not to suppress the stars too much as the star field in this region is pretty impressive.

I thought long and hard about what focal length I wanted for a wide-field imaging scope and decided 400mm was just right (for an APSC sensor at least). Still a bit of fine-tuning to be done with this setup but it's not too far away.

Thanks Martin! Yep - further integration would surely help firm up some of the finer details but I'm happy with it for just over 2 hours. It's nice to be imaging at f5 (vs f6.5 of the scope it's effectively replacing). I've still got some fine-tuning to do in terms of backfocus & tilt so the setup is still a work in progress.
