Centaurus A with an RC6 and DSLR

Finally got to play with my new GSO RC6.

After tinkering around with collimation captured around 2 hours of data under a 75% moon.

Collimation and/or focus off a bit I think but pretty happy with the result.

I have my gear setup permanently now in a budget, under $700, roll off roof shed I whipped up. Pretty happy with that also.

cheers

Mark

Great effort Mark! Looks like you enjoy a challenge, going for galaxies with a dslr under a big moon…but at least you’re getting out under the stars with the new rc6!
If you can purchase a bahtinov mask for the scope it’ll really take a lot of the guess-work out of focussing- probably only set you back $30bucks on eBay too.

Well done, Mark. Great effort. A $700 roll-off roof observatory sounds amazing!

It's nice to be able to leave the rig setup and ready to go if it's clear when i get home of a night.

Awesome shot Mark,
I am only recently back in the AP game, and you're already making me want to buy an RC again

A nice image Mark and I am happy to hear you have a permanent set up as it is more beneficial than just no set up and pull down...and although I have not used one I believe your scope are very good units.

I use an unmodded Canon 700d Anthony. That image was 40, 3 minute exposures at 1600iso, no calibration frames.

cheers

Mark,

That's a very good image of what is a quite dim target. Well done.

Cheers,
V

BTW - can you share details of your $700 rolling-roof shed, please? I'm curious as to how you did it.
