Sun images from Melbourne 1 August 2022

There was a very short time this morning before the clouds rolled in and the wind strengthened even more. The sun today was quieter again with three listed active regions, only one major area visible.

We experimented with using flats for the first time today for all the Ha images.
Full disk Ha images taken with Daystar Solar Scout 60 double stacked with Lunt 40 etalon, ASI178MM camera and 0.5 reducer.
White light images taken with 72ED, Meade white light filter, ASI178MM and 540nm filter.

Good images Peter and Clare - not a lot of features at the moment.

Things may pick up again soon. Cheers John W.

Thanks John.
As you say quiet at the moment. With the weather forecast its unlikely we're going to get too much imaging in the next few days anyway.
