home built equatorial mount mark 2

here goes
just finnished my new baby ... this ones bomb proof ..
i reckon i could hang a beef carcass of this one!!.. gunna test her later tonight ... the peice of 6 inch downpipe is just for scale ... its not an actual observation tool ... but i can already see your imagination juices starting to froff at the thought of a newtonian big boy cuddled up to this mount ..

gota go find some duct tape in preparation for tonights veiwing

hi leon ... had scope for three nights now
.. first night rain
second night cloud plus mount issues
3rd night f#cking awsome .. even with the full moon
some vibration .. and i had my first go at colimation and the veiws were great .. even 17 year old son left p.c. for 10 minutes and was impressed
enjoying new hobby heaps giggle .. i think dogs are confused with my new backyard apearance at these hours

Wow thread resurrection huh? Good looking mount Mick. Where were your axles from? Reminds me of some of the creations the pluto discoverer Clyde Tombaugh made. One I think was out of a lawnmower base. Now you've had some time with it can you elaborate a little on how it has functioned/fared? Just that I have some spare axles and this would be an interesting project to do.

Keep it up with the creations. Splatter of paint it would look just like anyone of the store bought mounts.

I just got an eq6....its been 5 years...... its a improvement...I was thinkin bout a paint job.....I was gunna go with a retro graffiti look ...some wording like south side rules ...suggestions?

ps the axle mount worked fine ...just coudnt track ..lots of family friends have viewed Jupiter with that mount lol ...usualy first question was ..whats the post in the middle of the yard?...lol

I reckon your paint theme sounds good.

Good luck with the EQ6 Serious mount.

Thanks for the inspiration by the way it's given me a few ideas for a home made mount.
