OK ... so what is the key, the chords and the melody? We could get something going here. I think the last line needs work - the meter isn't quite right.

Jen, looks like this thread is still alive, so I've transferred this one over from mine:
Don McLean's song "Vincent" (1971), also known as Starry Starry Night, about the famous artist Vincent van Gogh. The song also refers to his well known painting The Starry Night.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Starry_Night
I don't think anyone mentioned it.
Regards, Rob.

I wanna be listed here too
Hey Jen, and the originator too,
After viewing 7 pages of thread I really had to look a long way back to add to the list.
Elton John, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds;
Patti Page, Alleghey Moon;
Shocking Blue, Venus
Some more that I leave for the others to contribute.
Cheers Marty (retired amateur DJ)

I'm trying to post a youtube link for something no one has mentioned yet, but I can't work out how to do it.
Can someone please explain it in idiot's language?

Molly, I'll try ...
Find the YouTube page with the song on it.
Copy the URL from the top of the page- only the bit after the http://
In your post select the Insert Link icon from the tool bar (has a blue/green globe with a link).
Paste your link after the http://
You can add any other text above or below it.
Hope this helps, Rob.

AstralTraveller,
Nice work on the Ayreon. I really enjoyed that album.
You've probably already got Star One's album(s). Another great Ayreon offshoot. Floor Jansen (After Forever), Damian Wilson (ex-Threshold), Russell Allen (Symphony-X) and of course, Mr. Arjen Lucassen himself. What more could I want?
My favourite of his is, of course, The Human Equation.
Actually, everyone should give Ayreon a go. A lot of it is rather spacey.
High Moon -- Damian's vocals during the chorus get me every time -- he delivers the goods with such grace and majesty; one of the sweetest voices in rock. Excuse the absolutely shocking audio quality on this video.
Intergalactic Space Crusaders
Amazing Space Flight
Whilst I'm at it, and, because I love Floor Jansen so much, here's Valley of the Queens.
Regards,
Humayun

Thanks for that Rob.
I'm showing my age with this one, but it's stuck in my memory all these years.
I think it is what first interested me in space stuff.

No one has mentioned "The Rainbow Connection"
And what's so amazing, that keeps us Stargazing.
and what do you think we might see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection, the lovers, the dreamers and me.
All of us under it's spell, got to be simply magic.
