We've made some significant changes to the animations playback on CFN. We've recently introduced the zooming functionality. Now you can also swipe the animations horizontally to interact with them while they're playing.
This works on the following sections: forecast maps, radar and satellite images and climate maps.
Check the video below to see it in action:
Here's how it works:
1_ Press the play button top right (maps/climate) or swipe left/right to start the animation (satellite/radar)
2_ While the animation is playing click on the map (mouse down) or put one finger on your mobile device.
3_ Drag/move to the left to decrease time, to the right to increase time.
4_ Release (mouse up) or lift your finger to resume the animation.
So clicking on the map will pause the animation, moving left or right will scrub the timeline.
The position you click on the map will determine the initial time. So right will be the last frame in your selected time range, left corresponding to the first frame.
The time ranges and forecast models, map or satellite types and radar ranges are all explained in our FAQ. This will work with every time range, any forecast model, any satellite type and any radar range.
This will also work on mobile devices, although the frame rate and performance will greatly depend on your device's capabilities.
Please let us know of any issues and pass on the details of your phone or tablet if you are having any problem. Scrubbing is available publicly so is zooming.
Thanks again for your continued support.
