Astronomy, Sports cars, Motorcycles and Classical music.

FAVOURITE FOOD.

FAVOURITE MOVIE.
To Kill a Mockingbird, for it's simple brilliance and Gregory Peck's performance.

SOMETHING THAT MY CO-WORKERS DO NOT KNOW ABOUT ME.
That I have a Science Degree and it does not involve Horticulture.

THREE DINNER GUESTS.
Winston Churchill and Adolph Hitler, I don't think that there would be room for a third guest.

My...

MY HOBBIES.
Astronomy, gardening, home improvement. (I am sure you will appreciate the first one ) ... it is allowed to be a new hobby, yeah??

MY FAVOURITE FOOD.
Tacos - Our homemade Tacos are ACE! Secret: Buy 'Mission', instead of 'Old El Paso', don't simmer uncovered for 3-5 minutes. Use the seasoning mix packet for the water, and add a little extra. Add a little chilli powder (seriously), and simmer covered for 15-20 minutes. Serve SIZZLING hot!

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE/WHY.
The Matrix, and NOT any of the others! VERY well filmed, very much filmed in Australia, very well researched, very well thought-out, very entertaining, very provocative, and yet somehow, very believable.

MY COLLEAGUE SECRET...
That I hate it there.

MY THREE IDEAL DINNER GUESTS.
Shane Warne, Mike Rowe, Richard Branson... Mike who??

I luv youse all! (No, really. Thank you to you all for forming the basis to this awesome site!)

- Jason.

Typhoon Season
Live in Adelaide, SA
Astronomy since around 8 yo when I lived near Mount Gambier and watched the Aurora and the Stars.
First Scope was a Refractor 70 mm. (Cannot recall Make)
Present Scope's. 76 mm Skywatcher Reflector with 9x50 Spotter.
200 mm SAXON Dobsonian Reflector. 8x50 angular Spotter.
Favourite Eyepiece. 28 mm x 2" Skywatcher & 35 mm x 2" Skywatcher.
Have a very ASTRO friendly back yard and do ALL of my viewing from there.
Favourite Space Object. THE JEWEL BOX in CRUX.
I have 3 Binoculars and am intending changing 2. 20x60 Bushmaster will go. 22x36 Gallileo will go. 12x32 SAXON is my favourite but will be buying a 11x70 shortly, this is a definite hole in my set up.
I have a BLOGSPOT at <htttp://typhoon-noel.blogspot.com> and admit I have been lax lately but will start again now.
Other pursuits include COMPUTING, OUTLAW COUNTRY MUSIC and very much ASTRONOMY. I am going out shortly when it gets darker. I have been a member now of IIS for around 12 months or so and find it is a very good site. Generally very nice folks. Clear Skies.

Hobbies?
Pistol shooting with my Son, Visual Astronomy, Surfing and making Sci Fi models and aricraft that have a bit of history. I also love fixing appliances which I make a living from, and I get some reward from fixing them.
Favourite Food?
I just love Thai food, such as a Chicken Larb salad. And also love a Barbie with Chicken. Our Local Thai has the best food at great prices.
Favourite Movie and Why?
The Matrix and older Sci-Fi movies from the 50's and 60's.
The technology in the Matrix was terrific and I love the older Sci Fi as they had limited Technology and special effects.

What is something that your co-workers might not know about you?
I bought my first scope ( 60 mm Tasco ) when I was about 12 yo as a Paper boy, and have been hooked on the Stars ever since.
I have a 1st Dan Black belt in Rhee Tae Kwon Do and in Toogee Tae Kwon Do. I also was an Instructor at one stage for both dicsiplines. ( dont practice now but would like to start again when I lose some weight).
Which 3 people would you invite to your perfect dinner party and why?
Keanu Reeves ( my wife just loves him and would trade me in for him anyday she says)....
Maria Sharapova ( my Youngest Son is Tennis mad and likes her a lot)
Joe Satriani ( my Middle Son loves his Guitar playing )
There would have to be a Penrith Panthers player there as well for my eldest Son, who follows the Panthers and goes to nearly all there matches.

Hi Geoff
A great read & thanks. I served in the RAN in my younger years & previously, during & post was a Gun Collector. I was half decent with a Hand Gun & pretty decent with Rifles. I lived in Northern South Australia and there was any amount of "Game" for the taking & I had a penchant for Rabbit Stew. I have never owned any Hand Guns as they are simply so hard to get a license for here in South Aus. Gun Clubs really is the only way and THE ONLY PLACE they can be used. Silly, because it only makes it hard for the honest people. It is like "LOCKS", they only keep out honest people anyway.
I am impressed with your achievments in Tae Kwon Do and although as a Naval Diver, I had to do Unarmed Combat (fortunately as I got plenty of chance to use it in Malaya) but have seen more than enough action to last me this life time. You got your first Scope heaps before I did, I was around 48 when I got my first 70mm Refractor. Previously, I simply used Bino's or Eye's.
Again, thank you for your CV and you stay well. Clear Skies. Noel
