Watched Transformers - Dark of the Moon last night. My thoughts? The first Transformers movie was great, the second, ok....the third, less than ok. Hope they don't make a 4th, as it will probably be really bad

Although I am glad I watched it, as it is definitely worth watching, at least once, but, I wouldn't add it to my collection, as I wouldn't want to watch it again.

I thought some of the dialogue was terrible and it a few place it was well and truly over-acted and farcical. Furthermore the humour appeared to be too forced and in some places rather corny and just plain stupid. I liked the humour of the first Transformers the best, after that, it went downhill

However, its redeeming feature is that the special effects were friggin' awesome, in places. Some of the SFX I hadn't seen done like this before. In some respects, I think they had decided on the SFX first, and then added the story and dialogue later.

This movie had the potential to be a great movie, but because of the corny and stupid humour, I think Michael Bay seems to have missed the boat on this one.

Cheers

thanks ,
But mate it cant be as bad as what I watched last night ,
'battle OF los angelese'
Not, ' battle Los Angeles'
I only got it out for a look and what a waste of space!
Corny with SFX thats so amaturish .
The only saving grace was...
I also got ' Little Johnny the Movie ' and watched it after , Funny as !
Kevin Bloody Wilson is little Johnny's uncle .
Get it if you want a good laugh.

Yes, saw the other battle of Los Angelese on the shelf and it looked rubbish. Even the new version was rubbish too Just a war movie with aliens

Gonna watch Event Horizon tonight. It's a great movie.

Yes, EV is a deep movie. Tonight's movie is even deeper, "Knowing". If you haven't seen this one it has a great twist at the end. It is Nicholas Cage's best movie to date. Tomorrow night I am going to watch an oldie.....Quatermass, a three part BBC series with John Mills. I haven't watched in a long time. It was creepy the first time I watched it. I picked the Quatermass box set, with the earlier B&W Quatermass Experiment etc, up about a year ago, at a second hand place.

I liked 'Knowing' as well pretty heavy duty .. A hard cross to bear ...

Have you seen Nick Cages latest?
' Driven ' ?
It got me , it aint what you think .
Its a lot on the parallell universe theme , ,, I will say no more .
I enjojed it and if you aint seen it Peter , I think you will too .
Nicholas at his 'sad coolest' , that he is good at, yea 'Driven' .

Ahh ! Quartermass , I used to live for friday nights as a kid to watch that . The TV was mine for 1 hour.
Yes 'Alan Quartermass' was his name ? I have not seen or heard that name since I was a teenager growing up in NZ , loved it!
Thanks for the memories . I loved it , as well as the 'Land of the Giants' .
Cool . SIFI .

Brian,

Good to know that someone else knows Quatermass. It is such a great show, even if it is a bit dated.

No sci-fi tonight! We have clear skies

Glad to hear Peter , on the Quatermass ,
I grew up with 1 older sister and 2 older brothers , them me , and 4 younger sisters so tv time was at the premium around our place back when I grew up .
B&W TV's back then ,
The only reason I got to watch it ,was because it was a after 'Corronation Street ' on friday nights and none of my brothers and sisters were around at that time , and The tv was mine , for 1 hour ,the starting of a love of SIFI . OH Yea!
Dated ? , WHAT! , My favorite movie is 'Forbidden Planet' , dont forget .
Quality SIFI never dates .
Brian.

It's sometime surprising who turns up, usually looking somewhat younger, in some of the older movies. I always take a good look at the credits

Good movie Dune, but a bit dated too. I would love to see a remake that is a little closer to the book. I also have the Children of Dune, which is a mini series.

Well I watched the Aussie version and Peter , its a shambles! . they have cut at least 20 miniutes from the front of the movie , the parts that explain the rest of it ! And being a complex story this just wrecks the whole thing! What a shame? some people have no idea !
Then about 1/2 way thru the section where the princess explains here family ,eg the Emporour and his dealings is all over the place ? total confusion !.
This copy does no justice to the book and I think who ever cut this needs to liik for another JOB!! .
What a shame! This does not help the SIFI gnere one bit.
Not happy , the Kiwi version is heaps better .
Oh well it looks good in my collection ?
Brian.

You must have the normal (theatrical) edition, as I have the extended edition, which must be the same as the edition you had in NZ.

Enjoy Dark of the Moon. Not a bad movie, fantastic SFX. Some of the acting and bhumour was a bit over the top.

I did , not to be taken seriously.
I especially liked the few refrences to the old Star Trek movies .
And its sience was pretty poor , eg. the crashed transformer ship was on the dark side of the moon ? right ? but the earth !!! was in the moons sky from it ? Pretty ,,, but , POOR .
And also another magical telescope that gives a perfect image thru a closed window .. He he .
SFX made up for it .
Brian.
