This is the funniest thread so i had to re-live it again

I had just finished reading the same thread. It was before my time.

You know you are an ASTROHOLIC when:

You consult star Maps when fitting " glow in the dark stars " to your kids bedroom ceiling just to make sure they are correct representations of the real thing.

Also:
when you are too tired to get the scope out for a quick fix, but you fall asleep on the kids trampoline, binos in hand, and wake up when a possum starts sniffing you to see if you are food or not.

Also:
Standing in flash rain shower holding a cover over your scope.... while you get soaking wet.

See ya

Geoffro.

Bugger, I'm one...

You own a 12V hair drier (and have short hair).

You spend more work time surfing Ice In Space and Cloudy Nights than working.

Och well!! Accept it, I'm a Nerd!!!

Yes I am guilty many times Jen.
Once I even managed to hit myself in the nose with the binos at the moment of conciousness / un-conciousness....that kept me awake for a while after that.

My name is Marcus ..... and I'm an astroholic. Here is my testimony ...
  • You'd rather die than throw away a single Sky & telescope Magazine
  • All your Sky & Telescope Magazines are stored neatly into magazine holders and sorted by month & year
  • You begin to think Star Trek techno-babble sounds plausible
  • You get reeeeeeeally annoyed with friends that think you're an astrologer
  • You're bemused when people ask how far you can see with your telescope
  • You feel that Discovery Channel astro documentaries are waaaay too elementary
  • You've said at least once - not tonight dear, it's a new moon night
  • You curse & swear when your guiding is off by more than one pixel
  • You're inconsolable when you have to throw away one sub-exposure
  • You think the clouds are deliberately working against you
Marcus

wow - everything is so true - and one more to add is that the wife doesn't understand the need to look at new gear or that after months of cloudy nights even imaging a full moon is an option

  • Well it is, is'nt it
  • You get reeeeeeeally annoyed with friends that think you're an astrologer
  • and newsagents that put the Astronomy mags in with the New Age stuff.
  • You're bemused when people ask how far you can see with your telescope
  • Yep, hard one to answer that. How many of us can relate to a light year or thousand
  • You feel that Discovery Channel astro documentaries are waaaay too elementary
  • OMG, I got it bad
  • You've said at least once - not tonight dear, it's a new moon night
  • Nope, never gone that far
  • You curse & swear when your guiding is off by more than one pixel
  • I should be so lucky
  • You're inconsolable when you have to throw away one sub-exposure
  • What! never
  • You think the clouds are deliberately working against you
  • O course they do, but its karma

I better book now also..

It would be nice to get together with a lot of other " Ice-in Space-ers"
and have a blast of a time.

Also, youn know when you are an Astroholic.....when your wife asks you to watch the road instead of the Stars while driving at night....
( I have tried the Navigation excuse too many times now )

Geoffro.
