I was just browsing the NSW Work Cover regulations.....it seems you also need a license to launch a model rocket. A $50 fee applies.

One thing though was that I was licensed to let off fireworks at the time.
I wonder if I am still licensed.

Just liike how you need a license to cast a fishing rod, own a turtle etc

I propose we introduce legislation to require licenses for operating one's own doorknob.

Just make sure you have a license to "own" the doorknob first.
Just imagine the "possible" damage you could do with it if you removed it and used it to attack someone.

Once, I was using a doorknob, and it fell off its fitting right onto my ingrown toenail.

I almost died.

I contacted my local MP, who are now looking into it. There will be a royal commision looking into this matter, after a round of environmental studies and public consultations, and studies looking into the studies, not to forget the impact statement on the possible injuries to the victim, costing $ 8 billion and taking 10 years to complete.

Doorknobs, like green laser pointers are now classified as weapons of mass destruction and hence will be banned. Consequently, anyone found owning a doorknob(s) will now be locked up for 20 years with various murders and rapists in a makeshift hotel suite with no chance of parole.

True story.

A ceramic doorknob which had not been subject to an appropriate regime of timely inspections by a suitably qualified and accredited technician had fractured in my hand with the resulting sharp edge gashing my index finger deeply.

Something needs to be done about regulating these dangerous and potentially lethal things!

After reading a few of these posts I can see a real need to license people to carry out what appear somewhat menial tasks. Idiots seem to prevail in almost every walk of life and the replies on this monthly cry by Peter only seem to back up my comments.

Some rules I follow with religious fervor...like Instrument Flight Rules (not doing so will kill you). Having to pay $50 & notify the council, police, fire brigade, and Air Services Australia each and every time I might want to launch a model rocket?? Lunacy.

I suppose unless we have velcro straps on our shoes...a tying shoe-laces license will be next.

The world has gone crazy, and it's the financial (insurance), legal (lawyers) and political (you know who) morons who have made it this way, along with a generally overly reactionary public that just jumps on a bandwagon out of ignorance and/or stupidity. Before about 1980, you'd never hear of people carrying on the way they do today, kids knew the meaning of the word respect and there was a modicum of common sense that pervaded society. These days, kids can get away with blue murder with no consequences and adults act more like spoilt kids...want all the goodies but no responsibility for anything untoward which might occur. Our parent's generation did some stupid things, yes, but in general they never carried on like people do today. At least not without the consequences of their actions coming back at them...hard. These days, someone sends millions of people into bankruptcy, crashes an entire economy or at least puts it into a spin, rips off everyone and what happens...they get a retirement package of several million, a gold watch and a pat on the back!!!!. Sometimes someone has to fall on the sword, but that's more to do with hiding or diverting attention away from even bigger crimes that those who should know better have committed themselves. These are the guys who are legislating all the nonsense we're talking about here.

If you want to put this into an historical perspective, this is like Rome, around 250-400AD. Everyone knows it's wrong, everyone knows what's happening but everyone is lurching along like a mob of drunks with no care at all at what's happening. Why spoil the party??!!. Why worry??!!. Doesn't concern me, I'm getting what I want. Bugger you, Jack.

Daniel, I'm sorry to hear about your son having those allergies, but as you said, it's the junk they've been putting in our foods and other things for so many years that has brought this about. Unfortunately, you've been unwitting participants in causing the allergies...we all have. Everyone has been eating this garbage for years, you'd expect your own body to deal with these chemicals well enough, but it does cause changes and those changes, which end up genetic, are being passed onto our kids. The longer this goes on, the more allergies and cases of allergies will arise. I'll bet the big food and chemical companies already knew about this 30-40 years, or more, ago. So did the governments. But they did nothing to stop it, because if they did, it would mean their profits would go down. That is what all and everything boils down to...greed, power and influence.

Well, enough of that.....bring back cracker night!!!!
