My favourite music right now is whatever is on Jazz Track at the moment - Bill Frizell's trio I think.

Recently I've given Jethro Tull a bit of a workout, particularly some of the 'lesser' (relatively speaking) albums like War Child, Under Wraps and A. Catfish Rising was a pleasant surprise. Also the new 'Charlie Haden Family and Friends' and the old Pretender 'Isle of View'. I listen to a lot of Arvo Part late at night.

BTW there has been a lot of comments about great ozzie music of the 70s but no one mentioned Chain. Towards the Blues is a great album.

Yes, equally one might say the "world was at her feet" but sadly, she was unable to see it.

My pick at the moment is Miles Davis - "In Person, Saturday Night, Live at the Blackhawk" (1961).

Cheers,
Stephen

OK, I have a new favourite.

Röyksopp's new album, titled Junior.

So good.

Dang! I was just about to write that you inspired me to listen to this album, but I've realised I'm playing the Friday Night at the Blackhawk. Still, there's no such thing as a bad Miles Davis album. My favourite is a little earlier than this; Sketches of Spain does it for me. Who would have thought you could transfer a concerto for Spanish guitar to trumpet and brass band? But you can.

'Standing on the Outside', Cold Chisel tribute album.
Some really good covers especially 'Rising Sun', by Living End and 'Saturday Night', by Grinspoon

2 albums high on the play list at the moment are by American band Wilco "A.M." and "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot". Would highly recommend.

Liz,

Let me know how you go -- happy to share.

There's an assortment of progressive rock/metal (think, 30-minute long drawn out complex arrangements that take you places that your average 3-minute radio pop track would never venture to), as well as some amazing electronic music, which is perfect for a sunny Sunday morning; etherael and uplifting.

Regards,
Humayun

Wilco - sweet. I was listening to Sky Blue Sky while driving last weekend. It's a bit... erm... smooth compared to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot or A Ghost is Born but a good album nonetheless.

I listened to a bunch of new albums on that drive that I liked a lot:
Neko Case - Middle Cyclone (those who like Wilco might like Neko, she's country in the same way Wilco are, and just as smart)
Bon Iver - Blood Bank
F****ed Up (yes that is their name) - The Chemistry of Common Life
Antony and the Johnson - The Crying Light

The Blues Breakers along with Chris Barber contributed in no small way to resurrecting the Blues ,with a capital B of the early days.Much to be greatful for we are.Lomax brothers as well .It would all be missing if not for these honourable souls. No rock &Roll either!!!Saw "Chain" recently, oldies bit goodies still.Backsliders still do it as well. For me Blues is it ,deviate but not by much.Lightning Hopkins is one of my special artists Hurricane Betsy

Jeff Beck - Wired and then it would probably have to be
Santana - Moonflower and anything by Stiff Little Fingers
everything else is mostly close behind. My angle on music is... if it
sounds good it is good.

regards,CS

Strangelings this week
http://www.sugarman.org/index.html
I caught him late early 80s maybe late 70s.. cut an album stateside never did anything .. few years later it starts going crazy down our side of the pond .. tours and fills venues the same size of many big names mentioned above.. goes home and gets a day job .. never even plays a gig in his home country.

And http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Hawkins
Another who despite being locked up for a considerable part of his life.. sitting on a milk crate down venice beach belting out a few songs on there jail issue guitar gets noticed and shared with the masses.
