i am not knocking anyone.

All i said was, its a bit rich for someone to comment on ANY posting issues, when they themselves have awful spelling that could wind others up.

i believe i was also quick to point out that i wasnt judging you.

All calm down, please re-read the very first post that Ron put up. It has nothing whatsoever to do with spelling and grammar - gee whiz I can live with that. Try reading my sons SMS messages at least they make sense. All Ron has done with good intent and for the bettering of this site was ask people to re-read their post prior to sending to ensure whatever they were wanting to get across made sense to others who might read it. Attention should also be drawn to the fact that there is an edit button for those posting to tidy up things if needed later. We all make mistakes that's for sure but please lets keep this thread civil.
PeterM.

PeterM.

This thread should be closed forthwith, as its really starting to make me angry, ranging from people who think making an intelligent post only comes from using the correct vernacular, and shockingly bad spelling is perfectly acceptable, going all the way down to Peter Perfects who seems to have a habit of cropping up in threads giving a very pious opinion, and talking to me like i am 5, and its not the first time.

Language and its use is evolving all the time, get over it.

If I wound anyone up, then i am sorry.

If I offended anyone then i am sorry.

Now, for the love of God, would a mod please lock this thread

We keep an eye on all the threads Duncan, thanks.
It's a discussion and people are expressing their views.
As long as we all stay civil.

On the lighter side. Professor of languages on ABC radio came up with a good one today. I thought it appropriate to post.

"I had a student who used a strong swear word in conversation. Not just once but every third word was this vulgar interception."

"I asked him whether he knew the meaninig of the word."
"Ofcourse I do." Was his reply,
"So why do you use it?" The Prof asked.
"'cause I'm a student and don't wan'na sound toffy nosed like you!"

"And so I was put in my place."

Sorry Marty, you are in breach for not spelling the word technician right under your avatar

ok while you nice people sort out your word issues you can do one of these, then I want a story made up of the letters left

on Rons first post - i often type a response, send it, then go back in and edit it!- it comes from having opposing thumbs for evert digit - typing is not natural.

I just came across this sentence. It was posted by the Iceman on 16 June 2006:-

"Very true, so as a reminder to everyone - let's remember to re-read our post before we press submit."

Hi all eager followers of this thread.
My darling wife purchased for me, on my wedding day, a book called "The Husbands Little Book of Quotes"
One which stuck in my head was " It takes a wise man to have the last say, and NOT use it"
