We're all excited here too - there's a few of us coming from the Bright Astronomy Group! Well done to the ASAW on their comprehensive info pack, and the hard work they've put into organising the event . And now.... just the wait!!

Hey Geoff!
The Berries are heading down to Canberra to stay overnight on Thursday, and then heading on to Border Stargaze on Friday. Depending on distractions on the way, we should get to the site by mid afternoon Friday.
See you all there!

I'll be there Friday morning I hope, if I can drag my sorry butt out of bed early enough. Will be the furthest I've ever driven, and the furthest south I've been.
Clear skies,
Shane

Way off thread, but I'm astonished, Geoff and Shane. How can you have driven so little, living in Australia. Victoria to Queensland is a Sunday drive for me. Loved doing the Melbourne to Perth trip many years ago. Did 16,000km in one multi-week road trip Vic/NSW/Qld/SA in 1999.

Hi Erick,
Sorry mate. I travelled extensively when I was younger, spent years overseas. I'm just lazy and prefer to fly if I need to go far enough away. Plus I've only ever owned small cars, which aren't great for long distance travel. Thankfully the boss has kindly offerred me the services of his station wagon again, as I am representing the company. So the drive should be a bit more comfortable.
One day mate, one day.
Clear skies,
Shane

Most acceptable responses! Don't think I can sneak the 8" OTA on the plane as hand luggage so I'm thinking about how to carry it and base in a trailer for longer trips!

So Erick, are you going to do the mere hop-step-&-jump to the BSG?
I'll rock up about Friday lunchtime, just me and a car load of junk!! Although after Erick's comments, I might just walk. Hardly worth starting up the car really.

I wish, Rob. I'm afraid my years are pretty much planned out for me for various reasons.
I'm planning on Snake Valley in November as my first Astro camp. Then I'll look further ahead. Next year I already have little leave left for astronomy pursuits - and I suspect my wife would like us to spend some leave together and I know that an astronomy camp is not her idea of fun. But I hope to turn up some weekends at the various camps & star parties.

Good weather coming!
The weather is looking good for the BSG on the weekend - SW Slopes forecast is fine for Fri/Sat, but a little cloud Sat night. There's some weather moving in later on Sunday, but we'll be headed home by then. Roll on!!
